MT5 Price Feed Integration for a Defined Instrument Model

A broader instrument catalogue creates a mapping and operations challenge. An MT5 feed project should define how each instrument is represented, when it should update and how the team identifies an unsuitable or unavailable stream.

Use an instrument model, not a symbol list alone

For each instrument, establish the intended contract, quote fields, precision, sessions and source identifier. Record the mapping to the broker-facing symbol and any downstream dependencies. Instruments with similar display names may still have materially different specifications.

MetaTrader 5 supports multi-asset workflows, but a platform capability is not a promise that a particular source supplies every market. The source, permissions and required fields must be confirmed for each part of the planned catalogue. Keep exclusions visible rather than advertising an unverified instrument count.

Validate across different operating periods

Instrument behaviourReviewAcceptance evidence
Active sessionFreshness and expected quote fieldsA monitored sample with defined alert conditions
Session transitionOpening, closure and schedule handlingExpected behaviour before and after the transition
Source interruptionAffected instrument detection and escalationA controlled recovery and reconciliation record
New instrumentMapping and specification approvalA signed-off instrument record before publication

These are proposed test categories. Set thresholds and sample periods from the actual source, market and service requirements rather than applying one timing assumption to every instrument.

Keep feed changes controlled

Treat a source update, mapping change and specification change as distinct events. Record which change is being released and which connected systems need validation. When comparing sources, investigate timestamps, sessions and contract definitions before assuming a difference proves a feed fault.

  1. Approve a representative instrument subset and its mapping schedule.
  2. Observe data delivery in an isolated or otherwise controlled test path.
  3. Test alerts and the method for returning to a previous approved source.
  4. Release additional instruments after the operating team accepts the first group.

Hand over data ownership

The operating team needs an inventory of active sources, instruments, known limitations and escalation owners. Include a procedure for adding an instrument or responding to a specification change. A new feed should leave the catalogue easier to operate, not merely connected.

Coordinate the data schedule with the MT5 White Label account and platform scope. Review the execution connection separately: a valid price stream does not itself prove that the intended order path is available.
