Classify what has to move
Inventory client identity records, trading account structures, instruments, reports, integrations and client-side tools. Classify each item as reusable, needing reconfiguration, requiring replacement or awaiting a provider decision. Keep historical records and active operating state as separate migration questions.
Review the intended MT5 account model and supported workflows with the platform and integration providers. A similar feature name does not establish identical behaviour. Automated trading tools, reporting connections and administration procedures require their own compatibility assessment.
Use a transition decision sheet
| Dependency | Decision needed | Evidence before release |
|---|---|---|
| Client and account mapping | How the same client is represented in the target | A reviewed identity and account-reference map |
| Instruments | Which contracts and symbols exist in the target | Approved specifications and source mappings |
| Connected tools | Reconfigure, replace or retain in parallel | Representative workflow test results |
| Historical and active state | What can transfer, remain accessible or require another method | A provider-confirmed plan and reconciliation approach |
Any permitted transfer method, data export and platform access must be confirmed for the actual arrangements. Do not advertise a seamless transfer before those dependencies are resolved.
Rehearse a staged transition
- Build an isolated MT5 test scope from the agreed target model.
- Validate representative client, instrument and integration workflows.
- Choose a pilot population or limited release boundary with the responsible operators.
- Define communication, support and pause decisions for each release stage.
If MT4 remains active during transition, specify how changes and reports are coordinated. Keep client instructions clear about the platform and account being used. A period of parallel operation should have its own ownership and reconciliation model.
Keep evidence after the cutover
The operating handover should explain the target environment, remaining MT4 dependencies, record access and the procedure for resolving mismatches. Retain the reviewed mapping and acceptance evidence so support can answer transition questions consistently.
Start from the current MT4 White Label scope and intended MT5 White Label scope. For a longer coexistence period, use the parallel-platform blueprint instead of treating migration as a single switch.
