Break the project into accountable work packages
| Work package | Expected output |
|---|---|
| Discovery | Inventory, dependency map, objectives and unresolved constraints. |
| Target preparation | Agreed topology and configuration tasks with responsible owners. |
| Validation | Representative workflow tests and an exception record. |
| Cutover coordination | Sequenced actions, communication route and decision authority. |
| Handover | Reconciliation record, operating runbook and support boundary. |
The written scope should identify external approvals, access rights, source-provider work and services excluded from the engagement. Coordination is useful only when each dependency has an accountable owner.
Define the implementation boundary clearly
Specify which platform components, integrations and infrastructure connections are moving. Distinguish a hosting move from changes in account model, instruments or client systems. Combining unrelated changes can make the outcome harder to test and reverse.
Use an approved target environment for validation. Demonstrate the agreed workflows and document what the exercise cannot establish, such as an untested production endpoint or an approval still held by another organisation. Avoid promising a zero-interruption result without an agreed and tested method.
Agree completion before the change begins
Completion should refer to the cutover record, reconciled state, working flows and delivered handover material. Set stop and rollback conditions together with the treatment of any new activity after cutover. The responsible parties must understand how those decisions are authorised.
Prepare the migration readiness checklist before a project review. Use the technical planning guide for the transfer and validation questions, and connect the target environment to the MT5 deployment scope if the move also changes the platform arrangement.
