Identify the service being hosted
A trading terminal, an integration service, a monitoring collector and a broker platform server have different operating requirements. Name the exact service, its dependencies and the expected user activity. Clarify whether the environment is for development, a controlled demo, a supporting service or production.
List the access rights required by the service and the restrictions imposed by the host or platform arrangement. Keep platform licensing, connector permissions and third-party data services separate from the VPS subscription. The ability to install software does not establish the right to operate every component.
Check the virtualisation boundary
| Question | Evidence to request | Review outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Which resources are reserved? | Allocation model and relevant limits | Document assumptions about sharing and contention |
| What is stored locally? | Storage and snapshot arrangements | Identify data requiring an independent backup |
| How is access secured? | Administrative entry points and account controls | Approve only the access required to operate the workload |
| How is the service recovered? | Restore and replacement procedure | Validate application state after recovery, not only the VM boot |
Ask for a test that resembles the intended service. A generic processor benchmark will not show whether the application tolerates its network and storage environment.
Use a release gate for production
- Run representative traffic alongside the service’s normal background jobs.
- Check resource trends during active periods and after accumulated data grows.
- Test a host restart or replacement in an isolated environment.
- Confirm alert delivery to a person who can investigate the application.
Record the point at which the current environment should be reassessed. Growth may call for a different resource allocation, separate services or dedicated hosting. Decide from observed constraints rather than moving simply because account counts increased.
A bounded starting point
An illustrative use is a non-production integration environment where a team validates a CRM workflow before it touches live accounts. Its scope is limited, its data is controlled and the recovery procedure is simple enough to test. The same decision should not be copied unchanged to a live brokerage workload.
Compare the VPS and dedicated hosting boundaries, then review MT4 White Label or MT5 White Label requirements if platform hosting forms part of the project.
